Credit Union Sponsors Natalie Haras in Tall Ship Millennium Challenge!
The Tall Ships Millennium Challenge (TSMC) is a program that gives 500 adventuresome Canadian youth, ages 15 to 25, the opportunity to represent Canada to the world as official TSMC crew members. In a series of trans-Atlantic crossings aboard different Tall Ships, crew will participate in visits to 6 international ports, 8 countries, and three continents all during the year 2000.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Millennium Bureau (one third), the TSMC relies on the balance of funding from corporate sponsors. Ukrainian (St. Catharines) Credit Union is proud to be one of these sponsors for Natalie Haras, one of the fortunate 500.

Natalie is Ukrainian-Canadian by heritage and an OAC student at E.L. Crossley Secondary School in Fonthill, Ontario. She was chosen as one of 500 Canadian youths from a variety of backgrounds to represent Canada, Niagara, and the Ukrainian-Canadian community as a crew member of the TSMC. Natalie's Tall Ship is called the "Eye of the Wind", Canada's entry in the International Tall Ships 2000 race. Leaving Halifax on July 24th, Natalie will be on board the "Eye of the Wind" and will sail across the Atlantic from Halifax to Amsterdam throughout the months of July and August. Approximately 40 - 50 people will be on board this ship for this leg of the race. One half that number will be professional crew who will quickly show Natalie and her fellow crew mates the "ropes". Participants will learn skills in teamwork, leadership, navigation, trust, sailing and more.

We congratulate Natalie on being chosen, wish her smooth sailing, and every success in her exciting voyage.
